A most interesting morning can be spent exploring the old town of Calpe.
Start at the top end of the Gabriel Miro, the main street in Calpe and turn right which will take you into the old town. You will arrive at the Carrer Major, which was the main street of the old town and you are in a delightful square with the most fantastic mural painted on the side of a building. This shows facades of buildings.

At the beginning of several of the narrow streets, you will see the sign Ruta Turistica. It is worth following this route, which will lead you to further beautiful squares, again with the most delightful and colourful murals. One near the church shows a beautiful scene of the moors.

There is also a historical museum. This is a tall narrow building with a clock in the centre; it has steps leading to the front door and is open from 10.30 a.m. to 1.0 p.m. and from 5.0 p.m. to 8.0. p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

The Town Hall is also in a square, again with murals.

There are also some very interesting restaurants in the old town.
